Sony Camcorders

I was interested in buying a Sony camcorder, probably the digital 8 model DCR-TRV240. Does anyone know if this is compatible with imovie, it's not on the list that Apple supplies on there web site. If anyone has any info on this I would appreciate it if you let know if it works and how you like it. I'd also like some feed back on other Sony camcorders, digital 8 as well as mini DV.

    Generally, Sony Digital8 camcorders are compatible with iMovie and the picture and sound quality is comparable to that of Mini DV. Sony digi cams call the FireWire interface "iLink".

    Just ensure that the model you are looking at has DV IN capabilities so as you can dump edited footage from your Mac back to tape (saves lots of hard drive space).

    If not you can buy an "enabler" pretty cheaply.

    Thanks, that's pretty much what I thought but I wanted to be sure. Anyway I just found the Mini DV TRV-18 online for under $500.00, I'll probably go for that one.
