OK i have a bunch of 700MB CD-Rs that i want to use... actually i have used a few of them... the problem is that OS X only "sees" 670MBs of that 700MB and of that 670MB, i can only use 660.7MB of that for files....

what is going on here? i understand that I don't get the full 700, but 40MB for formatting?!? that is like 5%!!! WTF!!

is that for real?

how big are 74 Min CD-Rs?

is this a bug or is this normal?

Edit: i meant for this to go into GD... oops... oh well...

Erm, if you have toast, why are you even thinking about burning through the finder?!? It takes twice as long since you have to copy all your stuff onto the disk image. Toast is just so much better.

Well connivence and guilt... I need to buy toast, so I try not to use it unless I have to (VCDs )... <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" /> I'll pay soon enough....

I think it has something to do with the hidden files that OS X puts in folders...files like those ".ds Store" files you see when you boot an X disk back up in 9.

As an experiment, try rebooting into OS 9 to see if you can get back more space... otherwise, Toast is the way to go. It's far better than the Finder for burning discs anyway..,
