What are you asking for for Christmas or Chanukkah (I'm Jewish). I'll be wanting an iPod and a sleeve for my iBook. What about you?

Well I wanted an iPod but my parents said no because it was too much money. I'll probably get a faster CD-RW drive or maybe an external HD because the 10GB in my iBook is going fast.

My parents are helping me pay for an ibook that I already ordered. Maybe for xmas i'll just ask for a new digital watch or something of the sort. I have a nice fossil but it's about 5 years old now, and the strap is breaking along with the strached up glass.

    What do I want? iPod.

What will I probably get? 30 GB hard drive for my iBook.

What will I probably get if I'm realistic? Dinner.

Will it at least be a good dinner?

I'm asking for a pair of Grado SR80 headphones, and perhaps a second table or desk. I like to pile up all my computer gear on my desk (it's just shameful to put such a beautiful computer on the floor), so I have little space to do my homework on.

EmAn, why don't you get an internal drive? While the iBook will not except the thicker ones, it will take some thinner ones up to about 30GB or so, I believe. Wouldn't you rather an internal drive than lugging around a slow USB brick?

With luck I may buy a CDRW drive by myself soon so I have some good music to listen through those Grados.

I was thinking about getting a larger internal one but I really don't wanna instal it myself since everything's so tight an everything in the iBook. Actually, would I be able to take it to an Apple Store and have someone at the Genius Bar install it? If I can then maybe it would be a good idea. Thanks for thinking of that MacAddict.

Air Force Delta is the one with sweet graphics, right?

And EmAn, it can't be THAT hard to install a new HD. Just takes some patience, right?

I don't know, but from what I've heard it's pretty hard. And I don't have patience when it comes to taking apart computers. Me and my dad almost ruined my iMac when we added memeory because the stupid Rev A-D iMacs were so difficult to add memory to.

A camera (not a digital one)

    A scanner

    An amplifier

    A distortion pedal

oh, and RAM and a CD-RW would be nice too.

    and more...

Now I decided I'm most likely gunna go with an external. I figure I can get a bigger FireWire HD for the same price as an internal one for the iBook. And I don't bring my iBook with me many places so having an external drive won't really be a problem.

<a href="http://www.teamxbox.com/screenthumbs.php?gid=11"; target="_blank">Oh yes.</a> The in game footage is a hell of a lot better than the screenshots....there is a lot of footage on this month's X-Box magazine DVD.

And if Railsport Challenge were coming out before Christmas, I would get it instead of Project Gotham. It is the most beautiful game coming to the X-Box. <a href="http://www.allxbox.com/news/stories/img/ralliscreens/screens.asp"; target="_blank">Check out the screenshots here</a>

Installing a new hard drive in a PowerBook G3 was incredibly easy, because of the placement under the keyboard. The PowerBook G4 and iBooks moved it to the bottom, which is stupid.

I've heard several places on the internet that it voids the warrantee if you change the hard drive, but I asked an Apple certified technician I know and he said it would only void it if I damaged something. I'm going to ask him again though, because I'm not sure he was really listening when I asked.

Also, AFAIK, IBM recently came out with a 40 GB hard drive that will fit in the iBook. It's quite a bit more expensive than the 30 GB one, but, hey, it's 10 gigs more. But, yeah, I'm ordering the 30 GB one next week, I think. Unless IT is some kind of infinite memory storage thing.

But seriously, go with internal. I have an 80 GB FireWire hard drive (which only has 5 GB left on it  I need to delete 99% of that crap <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" /> ) and I rarely use it (except when I need to get something out of the 75 GB of stuff on it ) because I have to plug the two parts of the power adapter together, plug them in, then plug the FireWire cable in. And it's big. I have a portable, I want to be able to use all my stuff everywhere. If the hard drive was bus powered, then I might use it more. But, back to my point for the fourth time, if it's a portable and you actually use it as a portable where you can't or don't want to have an external hard drive plugged in, then don't.

Uhh, I guess that was kind of obvious...whatever.

    I think I just woke up, I can't remember. <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />
