Unfortunetly not. An iBook w/cd-rom would be a much better buy at $1299. I have a Pismo 400 w/ DVD and 320 mb ram and I think I could get about or just below the price of an iBook for it.
right now on eBay there are seven or eight Lombard 333 MHz PowerBooks with varying options, all bid below $600. No telling what the final selling price will be, but they're not exactly lighting the place up.
Dovebid.com just had a sale (ended 12/28) of Apple refurbished computers. Check it out for price comparison HERE. Change the sort/filter to Assets That Closed Recently. This should bring up a list of models, quantity, and price.
The advantage to this machine over the iBook is the 14.1" screen. Other than that, the CPU is slower than the iBooks, but the HD can be upgraded.

But you have the non X-supported video card, no Firewire aso.
It seems the only PowerBook G3 with a value consitently above $1000 is the PowerBook G3/500 (Pismo). They go from $1200 - $1500. Occasionally, a G3/400 (Pismo) will go for over $1000.
I'd say $600 is a good price for the laptop for what you get. Don't expect to run OS X on it, though. What you'll get is a machine that will run Classic great, allow you to play some games, surf the net, do word processing, etc. This machine is also pre-Airport. You have to buy a PC card to use 802.11 on this machine.
All in all, it's not a bad machine, but it's not a valuable one either.

Really? The guy only wants $600 for it. Can anybody else CONFIRM that they actually sell for $1000?

well I was going to say 800-900 but I kind of ripped apart your last request for a quoted price so I thought I would inflate it a bit
600 is a steal.

For reference, this eBay auction ends in 20 minutes and the PowerBook is going for $510 right now.

Answer your question Jonathan?
It's got mucho apps and runs like a tank, but the external condition leaves a little to be desired.
I really don't use it except when my Ti craps out. God damn FireWire bus blew this time... POS if i've ever seen one.
