I know that Showdown by E.L.O is a good "synthesizer song." Any other suggestions?

Sizzle Chest put out a pretty good list there. Add in:
- Nine Inch Nails
- Anything by Georgio Moroder
- Van Halen had some surprisingly good synth tones (courtesy of the Oberheim OB8)

For synths of a totally different character, try anything by:
Bill Leeb
He does rip off a lot of samples but he is king of bass synth,
Rhys Fulber
really atmospheric stuff mostly but works with more hardcore bands, and
cEvin Key
or (and often with)
Dwayne Goettel
.
[added Fulber]

Gary Numan
Howard Jones
Herbie Hancock
Go for crazy moog stuff too - try Jean Jacques Perry. Moon Safari by Air (french band is a great album too) but I'm diversing there... <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />
