Shipping charges from Apple online store?

Are the shipping costs for say an iMac expensive?

How does Apple calculate it? Is it based on weight ?

Perhaps it's better just to drop by a dealer and hopefully they'll have one in stock.

    Free shipping unless it's express shipping.



    It was an extra $25 for FedEx 2 Day for my PowerMac, and I took it.

    free shipping for me...but you do pay taxes at the applestore. of course you would pay taxes if you picked it up at a local store...but i was surprised to pay taxes online for my iMac...mostly because i know that apple has no stores in my state...but when i asked them about it, they told me that they charge tax in all states because they have a "presence" in all states...even if it is just an apple repair man...g
