Apple on Thursday pushed out a batch of new Safari builds for developers covering OS X 10.10 Yosemite, OS X 10.9 Mavericks and OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, as well as new firmware for the company's standalone Thunderbolt Display.

Safari betas 8.0.1, 7.1.1 and 6.2.1 bring a few new areas of focus for their corresponding Mac operating systems, being Yosemite, Mavericks and Mountain Lion, respectively.

For OS X Yosemite, Apple asks developers to test Safari's cross-device history syncing capabilities and importing usernames and passwords from Firefox. Other areas of interest for all Safari builds include WebGL graphics on Retina displays, extension compatibility, password AutoFill across multiple devices and general website compatibility.

Apple notes the most recent beta builds are not fully localized and require current maintenance updates for run correctly. Developers can download Safari betas 8.0.1, 7.1.1 and 6.2.1 through Apple's developer portal.

Also released on Thursday was a new Thunderbolt Display firmware update that addresses a "rare" issue that causes some displays to go black. Along with the bug fix, version 1.2 brings improved reliability when connecting external devices to the display.

Today's Thunderbolt Display firmware version 1.2 comes in at 1.7MB and can be downloaded via Apple's Support Pages.

Apple should retire the use of "version 8.0.1" forever.

Only if this version of Safari doesn’t let you go to whitepages.com.

Well, time to get off Lion, not that I use Safari. I was hoping they'd go until February like they did with Snow Leopard. Guess not.

My PPC Macs aren't typically online.

It's probably bad that I have eight Macs, none of which run anything newer than Lion. :\

I with they'd continue support for the Lion... plenty of MacBooks were prematurely abandoned on 10.7, because Apple couldn't be bothered writing a graphics driver.
