Renderman isn't a 3D modelling and animation environment, Renderman is, in it's simplest explanation, is basically a standard interface for sending data from modeling/animation programs to a rendering system in a somewhat device-independent way. Renderman is to 3D what PostScript is to 2D.
There are RIB exporters for most 3D applications, so you can send your animations to a renderman system.

There is a lively discussion going on over in Future Hardware about the NAB. I believe they're taking bets over there as to whether or not a G5 will be announced.
As for keynotes, yes, the NAB always has some old time broadcasting folk keynoting. This is what I posted in the other thread...
"Set to keynote this year's NAB on April 7 are Oded Bendov, William Baker, and Patrick Walsh. You've probably never heard of them. Dr. Bendov was one of the designers of the WTC Broadcasting facility, Patrick Walsh was the project manager of the antenna installation, and Dr. Baker is going to discuss what we're going to do to replace the broadcasting facilities that were lost in the WTC disaster. That building was responsible for broadcasting over a dozen stations.
On April 8, the all industry opening keynote, Eddie Fritts, Richard Parsons, and Richard E. Wiley will be holding the keynote. Fritts is the NAB CEO, Parsons is the COO of AOL/Time Warner, and Wiley is there to receive a distinguished service award. There is a "New Media" keynote on the 8th, and it's hosted by the dot com poster boy, Marc Andreeson"
Anyhow, it should be noted that the NAB is a convention for Broadcasters, not computer companies. Although the post production people have a lot of floorspace, most of it is going to people that make actual broadcasting gear. People that make cameras, editing systems, decks, jib arms, etceteras.
