Multiboot?

Hey guys,

Forgive my ignorance....

I'm a Microsoft MCP, but have absolutly no experience working with Mac's..

To make it short, I developed a set of drivers for an underwater digital camera based on OS 8.5. I am now hearing of problems with OS X and need to set up a machine with it on so I can test it...

Can I multiboot these two? If so, can someone point me in the direction of some instructions?

I hope this is a stupid newbie question that you guys can answer for me, and thanks again for the understanding..

The short answer, Yes you can. Forget the c\ paradigm of the PC world; with a Mac, you can boot off of anything that's handy that has an OS on it -- another partition, an external drive, a CD, a Zip disk, even an iPod. If you had a burrito with a FireWire port and an OS on it, you could boot off of that. Just mount the drive you want to boot off of, go to the Startup Disk control panel (or System Preferences in OS X), and select the volume you want to boot off of.

Of course, the hardware you are using has to support both OS X and OS 8.

For even more fun, you could install Virtual PC on your Mac and test all three on the same hardware. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />
