Paul McCartney at MSG-TiBook

Hey there Music Fans! I saw the Paul McCartney concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City last night. It was a great mix of old and new, with a heavy slant towards Beatles and Wings tunes. An AWESOME concert!

We were sitting off stage right, in the first level above the floor, so we got a close but sideways view of the show. The keyboard player (Paul "Wix" Wickens) was near our side of the stage. This was his 200th show with Paul. Any way, very prominently displayed on top of his side table was a TiBook. The glowing Apple logo was impossible to miss. The thing was on the entire show. A great demo of why it was smart for Apple to finally make the logo sit upright when the PowerBoook is open.

The funny part is, the program's equipment list shows a "Macintosh PowerBook G4". Just a slight miss; it would have been nicer to see it correctly as an "APPLE PowerBook G4".

If you're a Beatles fan (or Wings), I HIGHLY recommend this tour. Catch it while Paul can still carry a tune.

That's cool. I'd really like to go to one of his concerts, but I'm so busy as of late. I'll see if I can work it out somehow...

Also, either Apple PowerBook G4 or Macintosh PowerBook G4 are correct. It's a Macintosh, a PowerBook, and an Apple. Macintosh PowerBook G4 sounds better to me, actually, but what I think is beside the point.

Not to get picky with you, but I'm very close to Apple marketing and branding, so I know:

The TiBooks are "Apple PowerBook G4s" by name. They run the Mac OS. It's a subtle distinction, but Apple has gone a long way to show that it makes more than one computer, each with it's own distinct name. Even though we like to call them all "Macs", technically the iMac (and now the eMac) are the only Apple computers that come close to being named "Macintosh."

Well I guess "PowerMac" is not even on the map then... <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />
