if Apple ever wanted Sun ...today is the day !
Sun is down 78% today on major exodus by top level management.
it is still viewed by analysts as a long term winner.
if Apple wanted to swoop in and acquire the struggling firm it could be an interesting strategy play but one that would require a tremendous amount of commitment.

sorry,
that should read something more like;
SUNW shares close down $1.21 to $6.97.
Sun down 15% on the day, 63% off their 52 week high, 78% off their highs established in '2000.
whoops.
As Charles Haddad(?) recently mused, Wall Street analysts are just beginning to figure out that Apple shouldn't be lumped with the PC box makers. They're a premium brand, not a commodity. (Hello? DUH?! ) Once they're clued in enough to figure out what Apple is actually doing, I think Apple's valuation will improve.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Sun goes down every day. Be up again tomorrow. Guaranteed!
