Peru Government going open-source, would you support such action worldwide?
The Congress of Peru is trying to pass a bill to require the government to migrate to open-source software.
Would you favor such an approach worldwide? You can read both sides of the argument below before taking a stand. (MS representative is smoked in the reply, I tell you )
1. <a href="http://pimientolinux.com/peru2ms/ms_to_villanueva.html" target="_blank">Microsoft's FUD letter to Congressman Villanueva</a>
2. <a href="http://pimientolinux.com/peru2ms/villanueva_to_ms.html" target="_blank">Villanueva's reply to Microsoft Peru.</a>
Personally, I say AYE for open-source software in governments with conditions as described in the Peruvian Congressman reply.
There are areas in which such model might cause negative outcomes, then I am not in favor of the model at those areas of application.
