It's not with it dealing with Adorama. Last month I bought a Superdrive DVD drive from them for $10 less than what Apple sells it for plus a $20 rebate. As soon as it arrived I filled out the appropriate rebate forms both online and through the mail. It's rather complicated, as you need to send the original UPC code from the box.
As it turned out the Superdrive was defective, so I called in. They said I could return it but I needed the UPC code which I had already cut out and mailed to them. They suggested I go to the Apple Store. So I did and those nice people checked out and actually swapped it out for me even thought I didn't buy it from Apple directly.
Now I am getting emails saying they never received the rebate form. It is hardly worth it for me to keep pursuing this $20 rebate. I am going to just chalk it up to experience and never buy from these people again.
