Have you heard of Palladium from MicroSoft?

Please read <a href="http://www.pbs.org/cringely/like/like20020704.html"; target="_blank">this</a> article from Cringely (start with the I, Cringely link at the page, and then Palladium FAQ) and tell me what you think...

Cheers

Yeah, I read about that in (I think) Newsweek. I guess they want to do a lot for security too.

I couldn't find the Palladium FAQ link, is this the <a href="http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/pulpit20020627.html"; target="_blank">article</a> you are talking about?

If it is, it sounds kind of illegal to me.

This could be a boon for Apple and Linux should they decide not to go this route. Consumers will be PISSED when the experience the draconian measures this entails. Droves would migrate to Apple or Linux.

Oh and this only works with computers connected to the internet.

Yes...that's a possibility. I't could also mean the end for other platforms than Wintel.

Imagine you are a subcontractor to a large company that have adopded Palladuim technology, and they tell you: "And we, BoughtbyMS Inc, uses Palladium to exchange documents and data. You have to adopt that to get in buisness with us..."

    Bye, bye Linux and Apple...or?

has microsoft been extremely successful in anything other than Windows or Office? Not really, and I don't think this will be any different.
