Why doesn't Apple ever shout?

If claims (albeit here at AI), of a new dual 1.5 GHZ being comparable to P4 2.0 or 2.5 single processors, Apple needs to scream this out loud with full page newspaper ads.

They need to make it known to everyone, not just to those at MWNY who witness the Photoshop bake-off.

The general public still perceive the Mac as slow and overpriced. If we get that dual 1.5, we can at least overcome one of those perceptions.

I do not think Apple gets the idea that when a company advertises, they get more revenue from more sales

    I think they have missed a step in the whole "Marketing" idea? <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

I couldn't agree more! Wow, it's strange that we have to be talking about this, the times being those of pop-up ads and advertisements disguised as anything and everything except what they are.

Apple, please listen: brag, boast, scream, shout, annoy us to death with over-visibility of your (ed: beautiful) products! You've got a user base just waiting to jump in -- do you really think anyone has _loyalty_ to MICROSOFT? Come on now. Americans are famous for rooting for the underdog, only why root for the underdog when the underdog DOESN'T EVEN ROOT FOR ITSELF??

If humility is what you're after, don't do it. If you're asking yourself the question, "What would Jesus do?" and somehow fabricating the response that, "He wouldn't tout himself as the be-all-and-the-end-all of the computers, that's for sure," then think again: Jesus wouldn't be selling computers in the first place, silly!

I want a huge office-talk advertising campaign where I can sit back (as I do with all office-cooler discussions) and blush with pride at "my" company being the subject of all this bruhaha.

Make MY computer popular, for God's sake! It deserves it -- that is, if any man-made piece of electronic technology deserves popularity. I mean, it's beautiful, it's sleek, it's rugged, it's cute, it's just so simple looking, and it doesn't need to come with its own full-time computer technician! To which product am I referring? Why, the same one you're thinking I'm referring to, of course!

    Regards,

    PEte

PS - One more time, let's hear it: Who wants Superdrives? (WE WANT SUPERDRIVES!)

I have posted this elsewhere, but since you brought it up. I was thjinking that Apple should run commercials in the movies. Run a good long clip on how the special effects for the movie people are about to see can be done on the mac. Or how the sound can be composed. Of course they can limit their advertising to only the blockbusters. Come on Apple. Get out there. Pay for spots before movies. This alone would make me happy and I would feel like Apple really cared about increasing market share. It is not enough to have a spot in the movie. When the audience had to sit through the Apple commercial, they will more than likely notice the Macs in the movie. Dual advertising. Who'd of thunk it.

Apple already puts their products in movies themselves. Just about every movie I've seen in the past six months has had an Apple product in it. I just saw Men In Black II today and it had a Lime iMac and a car computer running OS X. But movie ads don't show what the computer does. Assuming people even notice it, they don't really see anything about it. There's nothing compelling them to buy one. If, however, they see an actual ad, they'd at least maybe consider getting one, if they're shopping for a computer.

ummm, that is what I was getting at. Show a "commerical" BEFORE the movie on the things I said above, then when the audience also sees Apple products "in" the movie they will more likely notice them. From a survey I have done, it seems that only mac users notice their computers in the movie, while others don't really care.

To CoolHandPete, i think one of the reasons no one is loyale to microsoft is that they have all the anoying pop-up adds and that they are always screaming. The new "switch" adds that Apple are running are good, but a little boring. Apple should at least put their logo in the adds instead of just the web address. I think Apple should concentrate more on pointing out that a 1 GHZ g4 is not the same as a 1 GHZ P4, its alot faster! I didn't know that till like 4 months ago(i havn't got a mac yet, but i am waiting)Plus Apple needs a cute little annoying sound bite to go along with their logo, something like the intel inside thing.
