Disable Apple Photos?

Having a very annoying issue with Apple Photos opening every time I put a card in my reader.



I've used image capture to try to set cards to open using "none", but the setting doesn't stick if I reformat the card, which I do each time I put one in the camera.



Someone posted a terminal command to disable it, but with El Capitan it involves using terminal to disable some security settings as well and I'm not comfortable doing that without some assurance that it won't screw things up.
