Connecting your IPad to your PC (virtualization)

How well does remote connect to your PC desktop (in the next room) work with an IPad?  The PC contains Office, databases,, Visual Studio, and other sophisticated tools.  I want to use the PC as a desktop virtualization.  Does anyone know how feasible this is and what are the pitfalls?  Is it fast enough to make it almost "real time" or does it stutter and freeze?

Thanks for any input.  It will help me decide on whether I purchase the IPad Pro.

I've VPN'ed to my workstation over a hotspot at Starbucks recently, and the speed is decent.  I lost connection 3-5 times in the 20 minutes I used it.  But my biggest quibble is the lack of a mouse.  It's a bit of work to move the cursor around with your fingers.

I think Apple will need to add mouse support for better laptop replacement.

    My two cents.
