Well, it's cheaper than an entry level 800, it has an L3 cache and a superdrive, and a bigger hard-drive. It's performance should be quite a bit better than the cacheless 800 which it undercuts, probably close to the 933 which it seriously undercuts.
Only the video card is better on the new machines really, but that's kinda a draw with the 800 at least, and in 12 months you'll be able to get a $200 card that smokes anything in the 800/867/933 at the moment.
I believe it's new, but I'll have to call to check. If it is new, I'm tempted to go for it even though I don't really need it. I wonder what it would be worth if I sold it on ebay...nah, I'd just keep it for myself. Thanks Matsu.
