Apple accidentally reveals water resistant iPhone 7 family on Twitter

Apple's official twitter account introduced and exposed some details about the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus before deleting the tweets.

The picture of the link textnew phones that was briefly hosted on Twitter conforms very closely to previous leaks and mockups of the device, but are larger than on the iPhone 6 family of phones. The camera on both devices does not protrude as far as previously depicted by the mockups, however.

Briefly shown were iPhone 7 in matte black and iPhone 7 Plus with dual-lens camera in piano black. Both models are "water resistant" and have stereo speakers.

Only the upper half of the device was depicted by the Apple photo in the tweet.

Wow! When is a scoop not a scoop?

What was the necessity to waste bandwidth and energy resources on a picture of less than one half of a product due to be released (entirely) in a matter of hours?

Interesting that, despite the twitter leak, no-one got the pre-order date right, even though it was the same as usual (Friday after the announcement).

CNN above claimed 16 September - actually the release date, and The Verge (and some others) claimed today.
