Apple TV universal search expands to CW Seed shows like 'Whose Line is It Anyway,' 'Vixen'
Apple has silently updated its universal search for the fourth-generation Apple TV, flagging CW Seed, MUBI, and Hopster as viewing options when a person has the appropriate apps installed.
CW Seed hosts a small collection of broadcast TV shows, such as V, Vixen, Constantine, and Whose Line Is It Anyway, plus some exclusive online-only material like JoJoHead and I Ship It. All of the service's videos are free to watch.
MUBI costs $5.99 per month, but provides a new movie every day with up to 30 days to watch it. Hopster is another pay service aimed at the parents of preschoolers, and includes shows like In the Night Garden and The Adventures of Paddington Bear.
While CW Seed is U.S.-only, MUBI is also accessible in Australia, Canada, and the U.K. Hopster is limited to the latter three countries.
Apple has been slow to expand universal search beyond the U.S., which now has dozens of supported services. The best supported region outside the States is Australia, which now has six services apart from Apple's iTunes content.
