The scaffolding and construction fencing surrounding the new Cologne, Germany Apple store has been removed, with passers-by getting the first glimpses of the exterior of the store.

Apple enthusiast site Macerkopf was on the scene when the obscuring material was removed, showing a store with some exterior Apple branding, but the interior still blocked by colorful iMessage-related signage.

The German-language iFun had a closer look at the entryway to the store.

Prior to the March 25 opening of the Schildergasse store, Apple has 14 stores in Germany. Other shops are scattered across the country in Augsburg, Berlin, Dresden, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hannover, Munich, Oberhausen, Sindelfingen, and Sulzbach.

The current Cologne outlet in Rhein Center, located inside its namesake mall. The Schildergasse location gives Apple another downtown outlet, in a larger street-facing location.

Much of Apple's retail expansion in the last two years has taken place outside the U.S., since most of the U.S. major cities are already covered by more than one establishment. The company is also rumored to be working on a second Belgian store, based in the city of Bruges.

Yea, well, the city was founded by the Romans. There must be a few of them still there.

Coolfactor, First of all, "hyperactive ADD" is ADHD. Secondly, younger minds can digest so much more these days than we could as kids without similar tech. As a psychiatrist who works almost exclusively with kids, I've had the most stunning results, relative to traditional therapies, using computers, etc. STUNNING! As for these ads, the target audience is able to get so much more out of them, because of their rapid pacing, than those of us raised on slower paced or static ads. These challenge their brains!

No, the mall has the name "Rhein Center", which is the namesake for the Apple Store called "Apple Rhein Center."

Snark is hard; it takes some effort to get right.

Apple gets nearly no props for being a global brick-and-mortar retail giant. The growing number of Apple retail stores is mostly overlooked by Wall Street. You'll never hear anything about Microsoft, Alphabet or Samsung falling behind Apple in retail store numbers. From my perspective those retail stores give Apple a huge advantage for holding customers in the long-term.
