That is a nice looking potential choice

Are there any with cache buffers such as 8 meg?

I just installed an internal HD in my PC that has an 8 meg cache buffer at 7,200 and it is fast.

Just thought I would get you to consider the bigger cache buffer size.

Go to OWC (www.macsales.com). They sell a pretty good selection of drives, and they make it clear how much cache it has.

They also sell excellent FW drives and FW drive cases. Oxford 911 based, so they are top-shelf.

    Try this

It was only a 15 minute ban, that's why you were able to post again in this thread. It had expired already.

I have this one, Firewire / 120 gig / 7,200 rpm. I use it with ProTools, all my digital audio. Great f'ing drive. Fast. No problems to date. Good value.

Im a big fan of all things LaCie... well, everything i've seen anyhow. There's just something about having a blue-eyed HAL sitting atop ones desk that makes you want to go out and conquer someone with massively expansive storage space, or speedy CD burning power. Depending on what LaCie device you buy.

out of all places why did you order from compusa?
  • Reply 12 of 19
cheapest and fastest for this item.....80 gig drive is $219 at lacie and most other places...plus it is on backorder at lacie and most other places....at compusa i got it shipped in 24 hours and it was $199...so even with tax and shipping it 2 days fed ex, it was still only $220....and when it arrives i will have more than doubled my hard drive capacity (60 on the iMac 800 and 10 on the iMac DV 400)......g

You really did your homework, that is the best price for that drive, who would have thought that CompUSA would be the cheapest, they usually aren't even near the cheapest on anything.

Well I don't live in the middle of nowhere, just regular suburban NY and they do it here too.

EbOy...did they do that with your iBook?? i had my iMac 800 sitting on the porch for about 8 hours till i got home...even with where i live i was a little nervous about that....the drive works great....Os X is really nice with this plug and play shit...it came with a couple of cds (a manual and a driver cd), put it said to do nothing if you are running X...just plug in the power, hook up the firewire and boom, neew icon on desktop....sweet and simple....just like my loviable cousin harry the microcephalic......g

Well I got my iBook 2 days before I moved here and I got sick of waiting for it to ship so I ended up canceling my online order and getting one at The Wiz so no they didn't do it with that. They've done it with Jaguar, my firewire hard drive, my burner, and various other things.
