Thesubject pretty much says it all. Can you get the educational discount at the retail stores that you would shopping at the education store online?

As far as I know, you can on hardware but not software. Or at least that's how it used to be.

EmAn, what happened to your post count?!? Did you hit the max and start over or something?

Last I checked, the max was something like 65535.

Anyhow, I had thought that you could not get the discount on anything from the Apple retail stores, that they would enter your order online if you wanted the educational discount. That's what I've heard in the past.

eman is correct, edu discount is only for apple hardware.

I can't understand why they can't offer apple software at edu prices, oh well.

Long story short, Brad was getting jealous of EmAn's post count, and so to become the biggest loser in all of AI he artificially reduced said EmAn's post count to zero.

Why on Earth he would want to do this is up in the air, however.

Actually, it was reduced to 7, not 0.

I asked the genius about this last night at the Oakbrook opening, and he said the discount was only available on Apple products. Hope that helps.

And this would make sense, because it is much easier for them to mark down and sell their own products at EDU prices to EDU customers.

Furthermore, applications like Photoshop and Macromedia ware comes in special educational versions... and 1) I think you have to be licensed to sel EDU versions... and if not 2) Apple retails stores probably aren't planning on doing a lot of EDU business.

For software discounts like that, your university should have a store on campus, or you can mail order.
