i am using chimera 0.6

and have used the chimerachanga so as to speed it up somehow.

here is the question:

whenever i open chimera after i quit, it takes quite a long time (minutes) to load the homepage or whatever page i type, but when the first page is loaded, things get normal again, i.e. loading is as fast,

any idea or what have i done wrong??

waiting is annoying

thanks,

sometimes it seems to take ages...

in that case i force quit it, and go to trash its cache folder. ( library -> app support -> chimera -> etc) that seems to adjust it.

I've been also wondering why it's like that for a while now.

And while we're talking Chimera .... why does it have a problem rendering text ???

Same problem that IE has, but not Omniweb.

Omniweb has some other compatability issues, and it is sooooo annoying when using IE or Chimera to have to drag over text to get it to render correctly !!!, You'd think this would be a fairly easy fix.

If it's giving you a spinning rainbow wheel when launched, just force-quit it. Then when you start it up next time, it should load quickly. Dunno why it happens, but that seems to be the fix.

I find Chimera much cooler now that I've replaced the splash screen, icon, and throbber with my own design.

Try deleting all the other prefs too (you should probably keep the bookmarks file). I've seen some reports where certain files like the application.regs can bloat to ridiculous sizes.

Also, you should consider downloading a more recent "nightly" build. They are constantly adding features and squashing bugs with these builds. You problem may well have been solved since the last official release.

Also, since this is a tech support issue, this belong in the Genius Bar forum. Moving now...
