there have been rumors going around that AI is going to shut down...hmm...i donno <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" /> <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />
Seriously, though, where on earth have you heard this? If anything, the very opposite is true: the forums can not disappear for good. We have a contingency plan and backups ready in the event that the server was to mysteriously disappear.
Anyhow, that thread is completely unsubstantiated "pulled-it-out-of-my-ass" bull.

that would clean up the member database, wouldn't it ? I mean, right now we have 6932 members and I think only about 1000 (max.) are posting here (regularly).
Oh, that just brings up something else.. if the member count reaches 7000... is the same thing going to happen as with EmAn?
it seems that the company which acquired AI, seems to not be paying their bills. Isn't that great. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

In UBB it is not possible (without using hand-made scripts) to prune the member database of old users. In vB, on the other hand, the administrators can batch move or delete members based on three criteria: has not logged on for x days, registered before x date, and/or has less than x posts. I don't really see any reason to do this, though.
1. Neal from MacNN gives us proper access to the server so that we can setup the SQL tables for vB to import the UBB database. Based on past experience, I'd say the moon would come crashing into the earth before this happens.
2. SlapTech actually transfers our forums onto its own servers. Of course, someone from SlapTech would have to give us proper access too. Since I have yet to hear anything from the former SlapTech folks about when this would happen, I have no idea what time frame they have in mind.
3. SlapTech dies and MacNN shuts us down and we have to more to a new server and address altogether. The administrator of the backup server has already given us the necessary access to futz around and test things. Of course, we will not be taking this route unless absolutely necessary.
So, to be honest I have no idea when we will get to jump into vBulletin.

IF AI were to die, we just bring up a hardcore rumor, and then people will start flocking to the forum! Real SpyMac style!
Beware, iWalk II!!!

<strong>Macintosh posted it at MacNN about 4 or 5 months ago. Someone revived the thread a day or two ago.</strong><hr></blockquote>
Macintosh has been banned forever of these boards some month ago. You will easily understand why he made this post.
<strong>How many times has Macintosh been banned exactly?</strong><hr></blockquote>
I don't remember but he came under differents names, but he could not resist at the end to say it was him.
Anyhow, here is the link if anyone is intrested:

Slaptech did not exist anymore, now Slap Tech is AI, and i have checked the front page work.
They leave Slaptech behind them, that's why they did not pay the bill anymore.

Oh, ok, just reading the front page, Monday, October 21st, 2002 is just a little confusing.

well that explains it
I would definately support AI all the way!
