[Moved to Software] Placing PDFs (with spot color) in Quark Xpress

When I place a PDF (that has a PMS spot color in it) into Quark 4.11, the file will not print the spot color. It just prints the CMYK process colors. It ignores the 5th color during output.

I am using the latest Quark PDF Xtension 1.6

I am creating the PDFs properly (press quality-pro settings) using Distiller, CrackerJack and Pit Stop Pro.

I think it is a limitation in Quark Xpress.

Any ideas?

Are you setting XPress to print spot and process? Having it convert spot to process? What print settings are you specifying?

No matter how I set it up, I never seem to see the spot color data show up. Its as if Express converts the file or ignores the PDFs colorspace...

I was going to put this in Genius Bar, but we might get some InDesign vs. Quark things going... so I'll move it to Software.

Either way, it's not a General Discussion topic.
