Switching!
Ok, this is going to sound somewhat contrived, but I've always kept my eye on Apple, especially the keynote simulcasts, and for once they've hit it RIGHT ON THE HEAD!
G4 Performance be damned -- it's the software, folks! Even though I switched FROM a Mac platform about 7 years ago, I'm going to be putting an order in for a 17" Powerbook, the iLife suite and Keynote in early February.
I've NEVER seen such an elegant, integrated media suite in my life, and "Keynote" is just a bonus.
I'm blown away.
That's not to say that my PC(s) are heading for the scrap-heap -- last time I checked Acid Pro isn't yet available on the Mac, so I'm still going to have to use at least THAT tool on Wintel, but I figure that 80%+ of the media work I do will be able to run -- and run VERY WELL -- on the new PowerBook.
No, I'm not an Apple "plant", just a fellow who is SO pleased that Apple's back in the game, at least as far as I'm concerned!

I'll probably be checking in with a myriad of questions sometime in mid-February, but I'm sure looking forward to it!!!
In addition, I'll check out "Live" -- it looks cool, but I couldn't find out if the Mac version supports .wav files (I have a few Acid Loops CDs that I'd like to recycle if I change from Acid -> Live...)
Thanks again!

Lemon Bon Bon
PS. I think you're getting in on the ground floor of a good year for Apple 2003.
Macs rule.
Well, I do have a P4 rig for gaming but don't tell anyone.
Welcome!!
