Help! Processor Upgrade for Pismo G3 400

Well, I was just about to order a G4/500 processor upgrade for my trusty Pismo (2000 FireWire PB) 400 from PowerLogix, and noticed they hade a new upgrade available, a G3/800. So, now I'm waffling and look to you all for any advice.

G4 Specs: PowerPC 7410 @ 500MHz. 1MB backside cache

G3 Specs: PowerPC 750FX @ 800MHz. 512k on-chip L2 cache running at 1:1

I use the Pismo for accounting (MYOB), web, ripping CDs for the Pod, the occasional presentation, etc., and most importantly watching DVDs in bed.

So, my concerns are: Which one would be best for Jaguar? Is Altivec that important to the'iLife' stuff, and would the extra 300MHz in the G3/800 effectively cancel out the Altivec gain with the 500MHz G4? Would the Jaguar UI be 'snappier' with one over the other?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

If I was chosing for myself I'd probably go with the 800MHz G3.

What are the prices for each? I'd probably go for the G3 if the price was similar...

$299 for the G4/500, $399 for the G3/800. I'm kind of leaning in the direction of the G3 right now, but I'm still on the fence. Thanks to both of you for your input!

I'd be very interested in this information also. I've been trying to make the same decision  to extend the life of my system, but my requirements may be different, as I spend more time with photoshop, iMovie and iPhoto. Help! Maybe calling Powerlogix would provide the answer.
