whats the point of having fast single tasking hardwarewhen your going to use windows!

Kecksy brought up the Nforce2 because it does outperform the Via KT400 in a number of benchmarks due in large part to better memory throughput. However Gigabyte makes good boards and I doubt you'll be disappointed by that one.
I have a Sapphire Radeon 9500 similar to the one in your picture. If it does indeed look like the one in that picture and isn't a 9500pro you might be able to software modify it into a 9700 like I did to mine. Provides a hefty performance boost for $0 additional cash outlay.
After you install XP and upgrade to SP1 you might want to look into using the newest "Hyperion" drivers for your motherboard to provide maximum IDE performance.

The motherboard uses a KT400 chipset. Why should I care about the nForce, when I'm getting a Radeon 9500?

Do a little bit of research...
Most nForce2 boards don't come with an IGP. They do come with great integrated sound though.

Integrated sound in this case being a good thing. 5.1

Hence the 'great' modifier...
$1873 Australian excluding GST, including Shipping
$1248 US including GST and shipping
$1135 US excluding GST, including Shipping
------------
I don't care about 5.1 sound, as I'm just running 2 Sony bookshelf speakers hooked up to a stereo reciever.

Thanks for the tips Eskimo.

I'll probably be running RedHat 8.0
My computer purchasing pattern is a Mac then a PC then a Mac then a PC and so on.

Yes, you are going to hell.

So, Barto, fare thee well...
The drive cables I got came with grounding wires. Unfortunatly, when I hook them up to the motherboard screws the computer doesn't turn on.
Hooking up the front audio disables the rear audio, so I've left it unhooked.
The performance of this system is amazing. It really is. It rips DVDs at close to real time. The games I've got run silky smooth. I run Quake III Arena at 1024x768 @ 32bit, all options, highest quality, 4X AA and 16X Ansthropic Filtering.
I was not able to escape the steel case unscared though. They left all these metal bits in you had to twist or cut out. God help any non-Techies trying to use such a case. But the paint job and the window, sweeet!
The monitor and speakers make for a l33t DivX machine.
All in all, I'm very happy

PS: You're a reverse switcher, I'm a slow Apple switcher (got a PB in Nov.). I'm hoping to phase out Windows in the next few years (replace with Linux and OS X).
I used Brickhouse on the Mac, but it took me ages to figure out the PC needed to my ISPs DNS server. Which was awkward because it's set automatically. I had to boot into 9 and run IPNetRouter to get the addy.
