Flash not working in Safari

I'm helping a friend troubleshoot a problem with Safari. His Flash plug-in (6.0 r79) is working perfectly with all browsers except Safari. In Safari, the embedded Flash content will try loading, but will stop. For example, on zelda.com's Wind Waker page, it will get stuck at "loading up.."

This isn't the problem with conflicting plug-ins in the ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins folder, since that folder is empty. I've tried deleting .plists and clearing cache, fixing permissions. Nothing's working.. any insights?

it's beta software.. what do you expect?

and, AFAIK, Safari has it's own flash engine...

No, Defiant, Safari uses the same Flash plugin from Macromedia that the other browsers use.

well, I said that, because when Safari fist came out, flash was very slow. an update fixed that partially. so I thought that maybe safari had an internal flash component...
