AirTags, new Hunter ceiling fans, best dimmer switches on HomeKit Insider podcast

in General Discussion
This week, on the HomeKit Insider podcast, your hosts review AirTag, Hunter launches new HomeKit ceiling fans, and we recommend the best HomeKit dimmer switches.

HomeKit device maker Aqara released a new M2 hub with both HomeKit capability and an IR blaster. Wi-Fi and Zigbee improvements also make it a good upgrade from the previous model, plus it has a sleeker design.

Then Hunter Fan, the only device manufacturer creating HomeKit-enabled ceiling fans, has released two new models. The Aerodyne model is priced at $179.99, while the Stylus, which differs only in its color finish options, will cost $329.99 later this year.

Our hosts next detail their own experiences with the new AirTag tracker, including accessories and lost item testing. We also draw comparisons between AirTag, Chipolo, and Tile, pointing out what's still missing from Apple's location tracking device.

We touch on using the Eve Door and Window sensor with Thread, then answer listener questions on AirTag and reliable HomeKit dimmer light switches.

One AirTag feature I would like would be that if you left it’s range it could send a notification. This one thing that Tile had which in my opinion was very convenient. Maybe this is a software update.
