Cell and Apple
News.com and others have an <a href="http://news.com.com/2100-1001-948493.html?tag=fd_lede" target="_blank">article</a> on IBM/Sony/Toshibas upcoming Cell cpu.
The article is still light on details, but includes lots of marketing numbers and comments. Apparently its a fast multicore chip (they suggest 1TFlop), to ship in late 2004 or 2005. No indication if it's a PPC compatible chip or even in the neighborhood, but from the comments it *does* look like it might make for a part that Apple would be interested in.
Thoughts anyone?
