To commemorate the Chinese New Year, Apple has released a new short film in its "Shot on iPhone" series called "The Comeback."

The movie tells the tale of a young man returning home from a film shoot after an injury. He returns home and, with his father, sets out to shoot a sci-fi film with his friends and family and make that comeback.

The film, which clocks in at 23 minutes, was shot on the iPhone 13 Pro. In 2021, Apple released a 12-minute video shot on the iPhone 12 Pro Max that put a modern spin on the classic Chinese legend of the monster Nian.

The Chinese New Year starts on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. To celebrate, Apple has also released with special edition AirTag & Beats Studio Buds with Year of the Tiger imagery.

We need to stop calling this Chinese New Year. It is actually a Lunar New year based on lunar calendar shared by many countries.

Good one. I never thought of it. It was so embedded in my brain for the past decades.

Well done!   It blended so much of important changes and migrations going on in China:   Young people leaving the rural villages for the big cities -- and China's moves out to the stars and planets.

    And, of course, excellent photography!

And, while we're at it, we should stop calling it Christmas -- because other religions celebrate it as their own holiday.  It was originally celebrated by pagans and a procession of others...

But that would be silly too.  The world knows both as Chinese New Year and Christmas.
