well you'll definitely require Disk Utility (to repair your hard drive if it bails)
Jaguar Install Disc 1 is an emergency system volume
- bootable <hold "C" for startup from disc>,
- can run DU from the menu instead of the Jag installer
not sure if you could clone it (without the installer folders) and that's enough... very little other functionality if you're looking for 'full finder boot'
does this need to be a "universal OSX boot (all hardware)" or do you only need one for a specific piece of hardware (eMac, etc)?
I'm also having trouble running the Hardware Test CD that came with my machine. Are there any other downloads that will test my RAM and other hardware?

it's to boot up with Norton disc doctor - you can't boot up from the Norton CD on the new Dual 1.42 because it doesn't have OS X on the disc.
I think this is what u are looking for...there are other things that do is too so look around
