CORE line of 'clones' now shipping.

I'm surprised this hasn't been posted yet... I used the search and nothing relevant appeared, so here goes... I'm not putting it in Current Hardware because of this line in the posting guidelines "The Current Hardware forum is the place for discussion of Apple's current hardware offerings."...

The CORE line of kit Macs, arguably 'clones', is now shipping. See also this thread in the MacAch.

The prices on the low end kits' aren't bad, but the high end towers are near Apple's prices sans warranty. These are also Gigabit boards, so we're talking 2+ year old mobo tech.

The 800 Mhz seems comparable to the iMac, and its value, or the eMac's value, over the other seems to be a matter of your particular computing style.

They're not that cheap when you add in the cost of hard drives, optical drives, RAM, etc.

They don't even look real, I'm thinking I won't order something like that, evar, unless I can see it imperson, or at the least know from legitimate publishers in print and on the web, that these guys can actually ship those in quantity.

How does a G4 mobo fit in that little case? WHere do the PCI cards go? Or the daughtercard plus heat sink and PS?

Nah, somehow I think this isn't exactly what it appears to be.

I'm not sure exactly how "off the street" the case is, given that Apple boards are nowhere near the ATX standard(s).

It could be a street case that they modify as necessary, but I don't think this is as simple as buying any old ATX case and throwing the parts in.
