WWDC had Apple making a big push to bring gaming to the Mac. A week later, the Mac App Store is giving gamers the opportunity to start gaming on the platform.

A story from the Mac App Store reveals there are quite a few popular Mac games on sale, at a discount. The list includes a bunch of major titles, that have previously been featured by Apple.

The collection is headlined by games including Death Stranding Director's Cut, the Hideo Kojima sci-fi epic. Normally $39.99, it's being sold at $19.99 in the Mac App Store.

Resident Evil Village, a popular installment of the horror franchise that features the seven-foot-tall Lady Dimitrescu, is also on the list. Previously $39.99, it's now down to $15.99.

Indie card game Inscryption is offered at $9.99, half the regular price. Meanwhile Playdead's Inside, the follow-up to Limbo, is down from $19.99 to $9.99.

The games on the list are available at a discount for "a limited time," the page states. It also warns that not all games are available on all devices, and there are also limits to regional availability.

I wish GTA6 will boost Apple gaming, and Vision Pro may involve too…

Why buy Disney Dreamlight valley, when you can get it on Apple Arcade?

Because then you have to subscribe to Apple's utterly mid game service?

It's not too shabby for being part of Apple One, particularly when that is bundled with my Verizon service at a further discount.

If DDV is the only thing you’re really playing on Apple Arcade, and expect to keep playing it for a long time, you should probably grab a “permanent” copy at this sale price and cancel your AA subscription. That way you have the option of dropping AA at some point in the future and still be able to play DDV.

OTOH, even at this sale price DDV equals the cost of six months of Apple Arcade, so if you’re one of those folks who play a game to completion and is done with it, Apple Arcade is definitely the better deal over the course of a year.

I wasn't expecting all of these to also be available in Canada (they are!) and I wasn't expecting most of these to have excellent app privacy statements (only the Disney app stinks.) I might be forced to buy all of them today, except the Disney app. The number at the end of each line below is my summary of how much each app respects your privacy.

    • Valheim -- SALE - 10/10
    • Death Stranding Director's Cut -- UNKNOWN - 9/10
    • Lies of P -- 10/10
    • Resident Evil Village -- SALE - 10/10
    • Return to Monkey Island -- SALE - 10/10
    • Disney Dreamlight Valley -- SALE - 4/10
    • Inscryption -- SALE - 9/10
    • GRIS -- SALE - UNKNOWN/UNSPECIFIED
    • SnowRunner -- SALE - 7/10
    • Inside -- (you have to search for "inside by playdead") - SALE - 10/10
    • Disco Elysium - The Final Cut -- SALE - 10/10
    • LUNA The Shadow Dust -- SALE - 10/10
    • Transport Fever 2 -- (make sure you search for "Transport Fever 2") - SALE - 9/10
