Confused - if you have a hub, why do you need a router?

well i was under the impression that hubs can't share internet connections (share the 2IP's my ISP gives across 3 computers on the hub)

    i thought routers did that

i'll try that internet connection thing in 10.2.6

    thanks

so i dont need router/proxy software (haha the knowledge u may have thought i have goes down)

ok ok u didn't think i had any i know

ok so i have internet sharing turned on...if i want to run a PC through this i just connect the two correct?

do i have to set the PC up or should it auto recognize

also i am slightly worried because i have an e-net cable (that i check to be working) connected to both but even while both computers are on the LEDs on the cards are not lit up

You may need to use a crossover cable between the two computers? PC should be set on DHCP when the Mac's internet sharing is on.

Buy a used, 10-base T router for a song, and all your woes go away. Also, w/ a router, your Mac doesn't have to be on for the PC to use the 'net.

    Yes, click this little button:

And it will stay on until you either turn it off or reboot the computer. It will not disconnect when you log out.
