Could this mean Apple actually have something reasonably new to show at MacExpo 2002 in London (21-23 Nov). Probably not...

Arrrggghhh! Half of what you wrote is not even found at the link you posted. PLUS, your shorthand synopsis makes it seem like Phil Schiller has Apple getting into bed with M$ to create a home entertainment device. He's actually a panelist along with a rep from M$, where home ent. devices will be discussed. What a misleading post.

I'll be happy to eat my words if Apple actually announces something, but this kind of rumor mongering has got to stop.

Ah, this is what makes the "rumor" boards fun. I do see a "small", very "small" window still available for Apple to introduce a new product before the season.

Yes, you're supposed to fake a poor secondhand Asian English ESL syntax and promise multiGhz G5 tablets for 999USD.

Enzo Biagini, regional Manager Southern Europe Apple, during an interview was asked about a new hardware Apple, not a computer. He answered (I try to translate ) : "No comment. All I can say is that [...] some consumer electronic products are [growing in the] general market: an example is DVD, and cameras."

In another question E.B., answered: "... we are realizing materialization of Digital Lyfe Style".

I think we have to expect something.

I think this thread is reasonable speculation. It has been a long time since iPod was introduced. If there is a new digital device, it makes more sense to sell it during Christmas season, rather than wait for Macworld Expo, unless it's not ready to ship. I think it makes more sense to announce a new digital consumer product sooner than this, unless there is a good reason to hold it back until the last possible moment?

Macrumors report that Apple should be VERY well represented at Comdex.. <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

And even worse.. Some AMD guy is supposed to announce that a BIG company is supposed to have licensed AMD's processors.. And you guys can guess what company they are talking about! <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

    And, it should be tomorrow! <img src="graemlins/surprised.gif" border="0" alt="[Surprised]" />

We've already been given strong hints, from someone who shall remain nameless, that if Apple is licensing any processors from AMD, it's likely to be <a href="http://siliconvalley.internet.com/news/article.php/1493581"; target="_blank">these</a> ones.

Hm, does Apple ever announce business partnerships without pushing a product (be it hardware or software) along side it?

What I'm getting at is, if there is going to be an announcement:

Apple & AMD announce shift to/addition of AMD CPUs would mean new Mac hardware (not necessarily x86) but the Powermacs were just bumped

    therefore "Signs indicate no."

Belle's found a whopper of gold nugget

therefore Apple announces revised Airport hardware.

    Screed

Also remember that the original AirPort base stations had an AMD 486 as their host processor.
