According to my latest Macworld, the A06 will be the one. This would be a very intelligent move for Apple; this way they could be "open to a variaty of standards".
The SuperDrive will be whatever Apple chooses and is available at the time. That's why Apple calls it a SuperDrive...the tech specs page could change, but you can still keep calling it the same thing...It's the same phenomenon with the Velocity Engine. If Motorola decides Apple can't use the term AltiVec anymore, they can still use the Velocity Engine to refer to the technology, whether it be Motorola's AltiVec or IBM's VMX or another derivative.
Most likely it'll be the DVR-106, which isn't too much better than the DVR-105.
The A06 (106) has all the same speeds except it can burn DVD+R and DVD+RW media. Which is great except currently Mac OS X can't handle burning + formats.

Can Toast handle the + format? If it can't yet, i'm sure Roxio will enable this feature soon after apple starts shipping the drive (if the A06 is used).

From Roxio web site:
Q. Can Toast burn DVD discs?
A. Yes, Toast now supports DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD+RW recorders, DVD-RAM drives, and DLT tape drives. Toast 5 Titanium is a complete DVD-ROM premastering solution.
According the the Apple Store, the SuperDrive that ships with the PowerMac G5s reads DVDs at 12x, writes to DVD-R at 4x, reads CDs at 32x, writes to CD-R at 16x, and writes to CD-RW at 10x.
The Pioneer DVR-A06U writes DVD-R at 4X, DVD-RW at 2X,
DVD+R at 4X, DVD+RW at 2.4X, CD-R at 16X, and CD-RW at 10X, and reads DVDs at 12X and CDs at 32X.
In other words, they have the same specs except for DVD+R support which Apple doesn't list under their supported media section.

Oooh, right. Look at what Apple has listed on their current PM G4s (here), "SuperDrive (DVD-R/CD-RW); writes DVD-R discs at 4x speed, reads DVDs at 8x speed, writes CD-R discs at 16x speed, writes CD-RW discs at 8x speed, reads CDs at 32x speed (build-to-order option)"
Note the DVD Read Speed... 12x vs. 8x. Also interesting is that as I was searching for the A05 specs, it seems Pioneer has completely removed all trace of the A05 from their website, minus a little PR Release that doesn't list the DVD Read Speed.

Just curious.
Rumored to be the A06 according to Mac Rumors.
