Both mags have two page spreads. The ads are different in design. IBM logo is featured in both. Sorry don't have ability to scan.

i can email the scan to an admin.

or you can see it here

it would screw up page format to post it.

once you're in the slideshow mode click it again to get actual size.

What? The ones in Newsweek are completely different. It says something like, "The 64-bit processor. The dawn of a new era of computing." The whole ad was more about the chip than the Powermac. Too much text in my opinion.

EDIT: Man, the Time ad is WAY better than the Newsweek ad.

I got mine, in the mail yesterday (monday).

    Curiousuburb, the difference is this:

In the Time ad, on Page Left, they have some little performance graphs, a small picture of a G5 wafer, and a small picture of the G5, from the side, with its door on. Mainly text. On Page Right, there is a full page picture of the Powermac without it's door, from the side.

In the Newsweek ad, there is a part of a G5 wafer on the bottom of the two pages, actual size. On Page Left, there's an overview of the IBM fab process, with a small pic of a robot arm holding a wafer and an IBM logo. Page Right explains significance of 64 bit computing, and some very concise info on the Powermac. There is a small apple logo and small pic of the G5 from side with the door on. On the top of the pages, it says something like, "The 64 bit PC. A new chapter in computing."

Those benchmarks are slightly different from the Apple site.

Anyway, I bet we'll hear about some of these ads tomorrow from Joswiak.

i wonder if that speaks to their demographic information to the time and newsweek reader, or whether they feel that the readership is essentially the same, and are testing responses to the different ads.

well if there's a USA Today version with no text but big candy-like graphs,

or a People version with small words and poorly captioned pictures,

or a Harper's version with tons of pseudo-relevant trivia specs,

or a Fortean Times version full of attempts to debunk the Mhz myth,

or a Cosmo version with gratuitous nudity, horoscopes and vapid surveys

then i think the design for demographic pattern would deserve more recognition

actually, it's fun visualizing some of those

an Astronomy version with the imagery red-shifted to show how fast the G5 is

    Muahahaha

you're right, integer is lower and floating point slightly higher than that at the Apple site. So they were cheating after all
