PC users sometimes say that we are elitist and that we like anything Apple no matter how slow/expensive it is,but the thing is,PC companies only know to copy Apple and their great products.

Take a look at this Toshiba rip-off of the 17" PowerBook...1.9 inches thick and almost 10 pounds heavy compared to 1" and 6.8 pounds for the PB!They even went as far as to use the same resolution in this slab as the one in the PB:1440x900!

Pretty pathetic,IMHO.

    Put down the crack pipe.

That thing looks nothing like the 17" PB.

You get what you pay for. That laptop costs nearly $1000 less than the 17" PowerBook. For someone who:

    1) Doesn't mind using Windows or has to use it for some reason

    2) Will be using the machine in more than one spot, but not actually while "on the go"

    3) Doesn't have $3k+ to spend on a laptop

I guess it's an okay solution. But the PowerBook is just SO much COOLER!!! Basically the Toshiba isn't really a "ripoff" of the PowerBook... the only thing in common is the screen. It's more like a portable desktop, whereas the PowerBook is light enough that it's feasible to use it on the go.

looks like Toshiba specs page rates it at 2.0 hours of battery life

(admittedly, the modular bays allow dual batteries, HDD, or opticals),

so presumably you could remove the DVD (just a 1X burner) and run two batteries to get 4 hours

it also has three fans and a hardware on/off switch for wireless antennae

Exactly, this isn't really a laptop, its not even in the same league as the powerbook. This is for moving around the house mostly. They even say:

"Whether you take it from room-to-room or set it up for the whole family to enjoy,"

    "Portable Computing Meets Home Entertainment"

Portable just means easily moveable computer
