defraging an ipod

in iPod + iTunes + AppleTV edited January 2014
I have a 30gig ipod that I filled up right away with music.Over time I have deleted about half of the original

playlist and added different artists and albums.

Does the ipod/itunes software reorganize the hard drive when you update?

Does it even mater?

Defragging is comething you rarely to never need to do on any kind of Apple hardware. If your iPod is problematic, use disk utility.

Fresh from the PC world, eh?

Ummm... hard drives are the same on Mac or pc... they will get fragmented but the Mac has a different way of dealing with it.

Don't worry about your iPod. It will be fine, you are only playing music so a little fragmentation won't hurt.
