DiVX

So I downloaded a free version of a DiVX player so I could watch some clip a buddy of mine is sending me. What else can it do, where would I look for DiVX formatted material, or should I just delete it when I'm done with the promo clips he's sending me.

I'd say keep it around. You never know when you'll want to watch a DivX movie again. What's nice is that now version 5.0.6 for Mac doesn't require you doctor your movies to fix the audio, it just plays the movies in QuickTime as if it supported them natively.

I hate the computer network at work. On Sundays I have nothing to do, so I surf the web. Today I Google DivX and get a sizeable listing. I try one after another and a page pops up saying that I'm entering a site not related to work, no shit, But neithe is AI, or the Subaru site I go to, they don't get blocked. Weird. Off topic.

So movies are available on DivX, who distributes them? What flicks? What else is available in this format? What are the advantages of this format?
