    Uh, my head hurts now.

Yes, you can buy upgrades for PowerMac G4s. No, you can't put a 1GHz G4 into a 400MHz PowerBook G4.

I'm guessing your title is wrong, but then you say the same thing in your post. Please refrain from making me think this early in the morning. heh

    OK, thread title edited.

AFAIK, there is no way to upgrade the processor on a PowerBook G4.

    you can turn a Wallstreet (1998, PowerBook G3) into a 500MHz G4 here

    a Lombard (1999, Bronze keyboard PB G3) into a 500MHz G4 here

    and a Pismo (2000, FireWire PB G3) into the same 7410 500MHz G4 here

AFAIK, there are no aftermarket chip upgrades to the Titanium chassis PB models.

PB G3 upgrades might seem better bang for the buck, but with archaic GPU/VRAM, no Quartz Extreme.

Barefeats compared the upgraded Pismo to later TiBooks here

the only alternative upgrade path is better known as eBay.

You'll need a BGA (or LGA or what ever they're using) version of the chip you want, and some unreal equipment.

So basically you can't upgrade it.

    sure you can ...heres how

1.Put a Type R racing sticker on it.

2.if the above is not fast enough

    add on a v-tec sticker

Please wear safety glasses while attempting this

the sheer speed of the cpu as it goes flashing by

    may cause eye damage ...

im sure the others can pipe up with ideas
