Security update 14-8 ... a timeless patch?

I've just installed the security update from 14-8, via software update.
Now that I'm online, I see that Internet Connect is no longer able to tell me how long I've been connected: the clock is stuck at 00:00:00. Not a big deal, of course, but a bit irritating all the same.
Has anyone else experienced this? Can anyone suggest a quick fix?

Probably had something to do with the proximity of Mars or something....
