Printer advice

There's an Epson Stylus 580 in my University bookstore for 45 bucks. Does anyone know if they're any good? My Lexmark Z42 is continuing to be a pain and I can get the Epson for less than the cost of new cartridges for it.

Ok, it's time for uncle pyr3 to tell you a story....

The printers that are cheaper than the cost of the refills have two things to consider :

    1) The ink cartridges in the printer will never be full when you buy it since it wouldn't make sense for anyone to buy the cartridges anymore if you could just get a new printer for less than the price of new cartridges.

    2) Those cheap printers are very bad with efficiency when it comes to using ink, at least more so than the more expensive printers.

The printer manufacturers make their money off the ink cartridge sales. Much in the same way that McDonald's makes it's money on the Coke and fries, that's why they want you to supersize your meal.
