Does anyone know if the G5's have bluetooth built in? There is a port in the back of mine that has the bluetooth symbol. Do i need anything to have capabilities? Say i were to buy a wireless keyboard...would i need anything else in addition to that for it to work? Thanks

I read in the September Macworld that you had to order if with your G5 beucase they are built into the motherboard. So if you did not opt for it when you bought your G5 then you have to get the adapter.

    YES!!!

You must order the bluetooth module, what you see on the back of the G5 case is for the antenna.

The bluetooth module is on the motherboard, if you don't order it you CANNOT add internal bluetooth later on.

There is an external solution in the dliknk DBT-120 bluetooth dongle, but you will sacrifice one of the G5's usb hubs to use it.

There is also quite a ruckus over at Spymac.com as to wheather the external dongle will even work with the G5, something about the aluminum case blocking the frequency.

Some say yes, some say no. But for the $50, it is definitely smarter to get it if you think you even might use any bluetooth devices in the future.

Here are the threads from Spymac and the Dlink DBT-120:

Silly people; how is the case going to block signals from a dongle that is outside the case? The G4 also had a metal case, just with a layer of plastic around the metal.

The Asante Bluetooth dongle is the cheapest one I've seen.
