The curved line/reflection-shadow on it looks like the one on the powerbook blue desktop.

While I find the chrome logo relatively unoffensive, ie aesthetically neutral, I prefer the simple grey logo one sees upon booting 10.2. It's... classier. Chrome makes me think 'cheap' and 'tacky' like some taiwanese electronics with chromed plastics on them.

I vote for solid color apple logos without bevelled edges.

PS why is spellcheck underlining 'unoffensive' above? Is that not the correct spelling?!

"inoffensive" is the term, I believe.

What about the blue Apple logo? It's everywhere and looks similar to the "new" not yet announced and therefore not "official" one.

What do you want an official press brief?

It's in and its official it'll be "in the new boot-up splash screen, then the login dialog box."

What's not known is "whether Apple will adopt the new silver logo for product design, as well as marketing and packaging, or simply restrict it to the new software."

It's all in the article. Blah!

The logo has been in constant flux for quite a while now.

The apple on the side of my G4 is grey...

    It's white on many powerbooks...

It's blue on my current menu bar but it was once red, black, and even rainbowed for a while...

It's light grey on the iSight...

    Reflective on the iLamp...

... and colored on the fruits.

So yeah, it's official. It is also official that the sky is blue.

Guys, I don't think a simple color change means much, or constitutes a new logo (referring to dfiler's post about it being "white here, gray there, blue over there...".

The only thing that goes under a change is the surface texture/appearance. It's still the Apple logo shape and it's gone through the plastic look, the "iLook", some gel, etc. Now it looks a bit like chrome.

    That's all.

I like it. A nice twist/update on a familiar shape.

And in another year or two, it might be something else.

I just got back from Pitt this weekend. Friday was very nice out there. Saturday left a little to be desired though...
