VCD PAL tv systems

I plan on working on a VCD movie for a friend in asia but I'm in North America. Do vcds need to be encoded in PAL format? I thought vcds were regionless. I bought a commerical vcd movie from Hong Kong and it works on NTSC systems. Besides, how would I test a PAL encoded VCD here in North America.

The vcd player that I use is Macvcd. http://www.mireth.com/text/macvcd_sp.html. Works great.

Most DVD players take care of the NTSC/PAL conversions automatically. I play NTSC SVCDs on my American DVD player to a PAL television, with no problems.

vcd are regionless (DVD code = 0), but are specified in NTSC or PAL

most DVD players (standalone) outside the us do the conversion, play both standards.

on a mac try VLC (versiontracker)......
