"Metalgate"
This kind of pisses me off. In this article it describes an officer applying for a medal that is supposed to go to grunts, plus, a flight crew getting the Distinguished Flying Cross for dropping a smart bomb on 'not-saddam'
the author describes what the Destinguished Flying Cros (DFC) was previously given for 'hobbling home, skimming over Germany in a B-17, all shot up and on a single engine" (paraphrase)
that is exactly what my father had to go through to get his DFC and to see it go to a crew that merely executed an ill defined mission is a slap in my father's face

Unfortunately(?) in today's environment killing is not as personal as it used to be. Now we can kill from the other side of the world. What a hero. It is a blight on people who did the hard yards in the trenches and actually fought for their country (be it just or not).
Killing is so impersonal these days that I want no part of it\
